Pyongyang, April 11 (KCNA) -- The Fourth Conference of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) took place with splendor in Pyongyang, capital of the revolution, Wednesday.
The Conference was convened at a time of historic turn when a march of new 100 years of Kim Il Sung's Korea has begun to win the final victory of the revolutionary cause of Juche under the leadership of the dear respected Kim Jong Un, true to the behest of leader Kim Jong Il.

Kim Jong Un, supreme leader of the WPK and people of the DPRK, was present there.

Delegates elected at the meetings of delegates of the party organisations of the Korean People's Army and party organizations of provinces and political bureaus attended the Conference.

Present there as observers were officials of the party, armed forces and power bodies, working people's organizations, ministries, national institutions, servicepersons, officials in the fields of science, education, public health, culture and arts and media.

The participants observed a moment's silence in memory of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il.

Kim Yong Nam made an opening address.

Choe Yong Rim worked as chairman upon the authorization of the consultative meeting of the provincial delegates.

The Conference decided on the following agenda items:

1. On holding Kim Jong Il in high esteem as eternal general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and glorifying his revolutionary career and undying revolutionary feats for all ages.

2. On the revision of the Workers' Party of Korea rules.

3. On electing the dear respected Kim Jong Un to the top post of the Workers' Party of Korea, true to the behest of Kim Jong Il.

4. On the organizational matter.

The Conference discussed the first agenda item.

Kim Yong Nam made a report.

He said Kim Jong Il wisely led the WPK, the army and people of the DPRK with his outstanding ideas, extraordinary leadership and noble virtue for half a century, thus performing undying feats on behalf of the country, the revolution, the times and history.

Kim Jong Il perfectly solved the issue of succession to the leadership with a strong sense of responsibility for the destiny of the country and the people and the future of the revolution, the speaker added. This was his distinguished feat.

He courteously proposed to the Conference of the WPK to hold Kim Jong Il in high esteem as eternal general secretary of the WPK and glorify his revolutionary life and undying revolutionary feats for all ages, reflecting the unshakable faith and will of all the party members, service persons and other people.

Speeches were made by Kim Ki Nam, delegate of the party organization of South Hwanghae Province, Kim Jong Gak, delegate of the KPA party organization, Yang Hyong Sop, delegate of the party organization of North Hwanghae Province, Ro Tu Chol, delegate of the party organisation of South Hamgyong Province and An Tong Chun, delegate of the party organization of the Ministry of Culture.

The speakers fully supported the proposal.

They called for holding Kim Jong Il in high esteem as general secretary of the WPK and eternal leader of the Korean revolution for all ages and invariably glorifying the DPRK as a prosperous socialist country of Juche.

Read out at the Conference was a decision on holding Kim Jong Il in high esteem as eternal general secretary of the WPK and glorifying his revolutionary career and undying revolutionary feats for all ages.

All the participants shouted hurrahs, greatly honored and excited to hold Kim Jong Il in high esteem as eternal general secretary of the WPK.

The second agenda item was discussed next.

A decision on the revision of the WPK rules was adopted.

The Conference discussed the third agenda item.

Kim Yong Nam made a speech on electing Kim Jong Un to the top post of the WPK, true to the behest of Kim Jong Il.

He said Kim Jong Un represents the center of unity of the WPK and the revolution, the center of the leadership as well as the banner of all victories and glory of Songun Korea.

It is the ardent wish and unshakable will of the army and people of the DPRK to hold Kim Jong Un at the top post of the WPK, he said.

He courteously proposed to the Conference to elect Kim Jong Un as first secretary of the WPK, reflecting the unanimous will of the participants in the Conference, all the party members, service persons and other people throughout the country.

The floor was taken by Choe Ryong Hae, delegate of the KPA party organization, Jon Yong Nam, delegate of the party organization of North Phyongan Province, Hyon Sang Ju, delegate of the party organization of North Hamgyong Province, Ri Myong Gil, delegate of the party organization of South Hwanghae Province, and Jang Chol, delegate of the party organization of South Phyongan Province.

The speakers fully supported and approved the proposal on electing Kim Jong Un as first secretary of the WPK, and pledged themselves to uphold his leadership with loyalty.

A decision on electing Kim Jong Un as first secretary of the WPK was read out reflecting the unanimous desire and wishes of all the party members, service persons and other people of the DPRK.

All the participants burst into thunderous cheers of "Hurrah!" and warmly congratulated Kim Jong Un. They were full of national pride and self-esteem of having at the top post of the WPK Kim Jong Un, a great statesman, outstanding strategist and kind-hearted leader of the Korean people who is possessed of brilliant ideas and theories and matchless leadership ability. They were also convinced of the final victory of the Songun revolutionary cause of Juche.

The Conference declared that First Secretary of the WPK Kim Jong Un was elected member of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission of the WPK according to the WPK rules and detailed rules on the election of the supreme guidance body of the WPK.

The fourth agenda item of the Conference was discussed next.

A member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee was elected to fill a vacancy and members and alternate members of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee were recalled and elected to fill vacancies.

Secretaries of the WPK Central Committee were recalled and elected to fill vacancies.

The vice-chairman of the WPK Central Military Commission was elected and its members recalled and elected to fill vacancies.

Members and alternate members of the WPK Central Committee were recalled and elected to fill vacancies and department directors of the WPK Central Committee appointed.

Members of the WPK Central Auditing Commission were recalled and elected to fill vacancies.

The Fourth Conference of the WPK marked an important political event that strikingly demonstrated the revolutionary faith and will of the party members, service persons and all other people to hold Kim Jong Il in high esteem as general secretary of the WPK for all ages and win new victory of the revolution of Juche, closely rallied behind the WPK Central Committee led by Kim Jong Un.
