Pyongyang, September 30 (KCNA) -- Supreme leader Kim Jong Un set forth the tasks and ways for Kim Il Sung University in his letter to the teaching staff and students of the university on its 70th founding anniversary.

    It is the general orientation of building Kim Il Sung University in the new era of the Juche revolution to invariably adhere to the revolutionary character and nature as the university of the leader and strengthen it into the university of the great leaders demonstrating its fame to the world.

    Kim Il Sung University should invariably preserve its proud history and tradition in which it regards the loyalty to the Party and the leader as its lifeblood and add shine to them generation after generation and century after century.

    It is necessary to further develop the university into the first-class university in the world in line with its high prestige as the revolutionary university of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il.

    The university should improve and round off the contents, methods, system and management of its education in conformity with the character of the first-class university.

    It should properly establish a well-regulated system of continuous education from education in the regular course to education at the doctoral institute and make the system of genius education established by Kim Jong Il substantially pay off.

    It should set up colleges, faculties and departments which train talents in the cutting-edge fields including aerospace technology and chemical industry and in the important fields in line with the nature of the university and explore cross-disciplinary sciences and train talents in that field as required by the trend of the comprehensive development of science and the development of society and economy of the country.

    It should take decisive measures for strengthening the scientific and educational forces which will shoulder upon themselves the task of building the first-class university.

    It should train scientific and educational reserves for different sciences under a long-term plan to strengthen the scientific and educational forces both in quality and quantity so that a steady continuity may be given to their generation.

    The field of social science should add eternal shine to the immortal revolutionary history and feats of the great leaders and deeply explain and prove the originality, truth, validity and vitality of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism and the lines and policies of the Party and give wide publicity to them.

    The field of natural science should make a positive contribution to solving urgent scientific and technological problems arising in developing the national economy such as the food and energy problems and bolstering the defence capability and the fields of basic science and ultra-modern science and technology should register research successes with world competitiveness.

    It is necessary to purposefully conduct the work for sprucing up Kim Il Sung University as a center for international academic exchange.

    The university should write excellent academic papers so that they may be presented at prestigious international symposiums and in international academic magazines and set the "Kim Il Sung University Gazette" as the state specialized academic magazine and develop it into a world-famous academic magazine.

    The university should receive a lot of foreign students so that they may study not only the Korean language but also get education in regular course, doctorial course and trainee's course in departments of various majors and let graduate students in the main study abroad.

    The teachers and researchers of the university should become genuine educators who teach and train the students through their practical examples and genuine teachers who are loved and respected not only by the students but also by the officials and working people of the society for their high ability, noble traits and distinguished feats.

    The students of the university should become genuine revolutionaries who enshrined great Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism as their faith and Juche-oriented revolutionary talented and creative persons possessed of the intellectual ability outpacing the world and ennobling highly civilized cultural attainments.

    It is necessary to form the council of the university with senior officials of the Party, state and important units along with officials of the university and colleges so that its prestige may be raised and national and social attention to the work of the university be enhanced.
