A spokesman for the General Association of Koreans in China (GAKC) issued a statement titled "Let all the compatriots turn out as one in the anti-war campaign" on March 18.
The statement said that all the fellow countrymen in the north, south and overseas fully support the north-south declarations concretely indicating the practical measures and ways for turning the Korean peninsula into the true home of the nation, the most peaceful and prosperous one, and positively turn out in the practical actions for implementing them.
However, the thick smell of fire in various parts of south Korea overshadows the hope of the fellow countrymen for peace and reunification, the statement noted, and went on:
The improvement of the inter-Korean relations, peace, prosperity and reunification on the Korean peninsula are unthinkable in the situation that witnesses war exercises for aggression against the fellow countrymen amid large-scale shipment of military hardware into south Korea.
Once the confidence building and improvement of relations were committed between the DPRK and the U.S. and between the north and the south of Korea, all anti-DPRK war drills, the source of confrontation and war, should be neither temporarily stopped nor downscaled, but completely halted.
No one makes a present of peace to this land and defends it. Peace should be achieved by the concerted efforts.
The General Association of Koreans in China and all the Koreans in China, together with all other fellow countrymen, will turn out as one under the banner for peace against war in the patriotic struggle against all the hostilities like the "alliance" drill which destroy peace on this land and escalate the military tension and danger of war.
