Talks held between senior WPK and LPRP officials

There were talks between Ri Su Yong, member of the Political Bureau and vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, and Laotian Vice-President Phankham Viphavanh, member of the Political Bureau and permanent secretary of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP), in Pyongyang Tuesday.

Both sides exchanged views on the issues arising in further developing the comradely and strategic ties between the two Parties and the two countries which had been forged and steadily developed by the preceding leaders and in defending and advancing socialism with concerted efforts.

Present there from the DPRK side were officials of the International Department of the WPK Central Committee including Ryu Myong Son, deputy department director of the WPK Central Committee, and from the Lao side were members of the LPRP delegation.

The WPK Central Committee hosted a reception at the Paekhwawon State Guest House in honour of the Laotian delegation.

Ri Su Yong told the event that the Korean people are rejoiced over the successes made by the Lao people in the struggle to consolidate the people's democracy and defend the gains of the revolution under the leadership of the LPRP.

He expressed the will to further develop the bilateral relationship.

Phankham Viphavanh extended thanks to the Korean Party, government and people in the name of the Laotian counterparts for expressing great support for and solidarity with the Lao people in their struggle for national salvation and socialist construction.

We will always make every possible effort to set store by the friendly and cooperative ties with the DPRK and further develop them.
