Pyongyang, November 15 (KCNA) -- In Songchon County, South Phyongan Province of the DPRK, there are 10-odd historical relics showing the Korean nation's high architecture and culture.
Kim Song Ho, head of the National Heritage Conservation Management Office in Songchon County, told KCNA:
The historical relics have been well preserved under the Workers' Party of Korea's policy of national heritage preservation.
Pangson Gate built in 1670 is the outer gate of the Songchon Inn. Its peculiar formation and decoration of patten show well the gatehouse architecture and artistic talents of the ancestors.
The Songchon Inn consists of 10-odd buildings, including the Tongmyong House, and it has been known as one of the eight scenic spots in the northwestern part of Korea.
President Kim Il Sung visited the Songchon Inn on May 9, Juche 37 (1948), saying that it shows the high architecture of the ancestors and implanting the national pride in the mind of the people.
The Tongmyong House was reduced to debris by indiscriminate bombing of the U.S. imperialists during the last Fatherland Liberation War. Only granite pillar, several foundation stones and stone wall remain at the site of the house at present.
In the county, there are also seven-storied pagoda in Kunja-ri, five-storied pagoda at Jabok Temple, arch-shaped Kuryong Bridge built with granite, several dolmens and other relics showing the architecture and culture in the periods of Tangun Korea, Koguryo and Koryo. -0-
