Today, the name of the Mansudae Art Studio is widely known around the world and among international art circles, with its many artworks including Korean painting, oil painting, ceramic and Korean jewel painting winning fame as rare masterpieces which add brilliance to the international art world.
Top prizes were awarded to numerous artworks produced by the Mansudae Art Studio at international exhibitions and expos on 20-odd occasions. Typical examples include embroidery Tiger which won the gold prize at the 1979 Socialist State Art Exhibition in Poland, Korean painting Peace which was awarded the special prize at the 1st Anti-war International Art Exhibition in Poland in 1985, Korean painting Mt Paektu, winner of the special prize at the 12th International Concours of Watercolours in Italy in 1990 and Korean painting Mt Paektu which won the best art ingenuity prize at the 11th Beijing International Art Exhibition in China in 2008.
One-man art shows of Sonu Yong, U Chi Son, Jong Yong Man, Jong Chang Mo, Kim Song Min, Ri Kyong Nam, Ri Chang, Mun Jong Ung, Kim Sung Hui and Kim Song Si, who are all People’s Artists, were held in different countries amid great interest of artists and fans and their works are recognized as the world’s masterpieces.
A DPRK fine art exhibition took place in Italy in 2007 and the Mansudae Art Studio held its art show in the UK in 2014.
The art studio built lots of monumental structures in honour of African and Asian nations.
