Ulmiltae-brand building materials are winning favour with customers in the DPRK.
They include a variety of tiles, sanitary ware, plastic window frame and covering materials.
They are produced at the Pyongyang Building-materials Factory located in Ryokpho District, Pyongyang.
“The brand name Ulmiltae reminds us of the Ulmil Pavilion on Moran Hill which is one of the eight scenes in Pyongyang,” said chief engineer Pak Yong Chol. “We wanted to make building materials of our own which has the name associated with the amazing talents of our ancestors.”
Several workshops with colourful sheet-metal roofs are neatly laid out in the factory compound.
Quality tiles ceaselessly roll off the automated production line and the CNC processing machine makes the moulds of newly developed sanitary ware.
A computer-controlled printing device was recently introduced into the production of tiles for inner and outer walls, floor and other use to make it possible to turn out tiles in different colours.
According to Song Kuk Song, a department director, they made the CNC mould processing machine which is crucial in diversifying the products and the introduction of the machine reduced the production costs far more than the imported one.
The CNC machine produces over 10 kinds of products including flower pots, toilet stools and mop cleaner which rely on local materials 100 percent.
The machine was highly appreciated at the recent national sci-tech exhibition of finishing materials sector 2019.
“We recently established a production line for widely used latticed ceiling boards relying on by-products from the plastic window frame production process,” said Yun Myong Sik, deputy chief engineer in charge of production.
The line turns out latticed ceiling boards that provide an aesthetically delicate environment for lighting and decoration.
Besides, the factory produces plastic window frames and plastic boards for wall and ceiling in different sizes, washbasins and water casks, flower pots and even spillway grooves for swimming pools. It is pushing the development of a metallic paint at the final stage.
