The new technology introduction office of the Pyongyang Rural Economy Committee has produced a new vegetable pesticide.
Previous pesticides were poor in sticking strength and therefore they lost their effect soon after spraying as they flowed down the leaves. Oil was added to the raw materials to ensure viscosity, which had negative effects on the growth of agricultural crops.
The office undertook a research project to develop a new pesticide which has the high efficacy and does not hinder the growth of agricultural crops.
The researchers deepened research as they fixed the composition and rational mixing ratio of raw materials to increase the insect-killing effect and checking its effectiveness in practice at the relevant units.
Their pesticide is very profitable both in production and use.
It is simple in the production process and uses by-products from cigarette making and a certain amount of agrochemicals and dampening material.
And as it is diluted with 300 to 500 times more water, a small amount of it is needed to apply to a large area of land.
The pesticide is widely used to keep crops from being damaged by harmful insects.
“The pesticide worked longer and proved more effective than others. Farmers prefer it as it is convenient for use and profitable,” said an official of the Jangchon Vegetable Cooperative Farm in Sadong District, Pyongyang.
