Restored life
One day in last March, a severely-burnt case was brought to the Nyongbyon County People’s Hospital in North Phyongan Province.
Shock caused by coal gas poisoning, high fever and blood pressure fluctuation brought her life indexes to the dangerous line, driving her in the jaws of death.
She was Pak Un Ju, wife of an officer of the Korean People’s Army, resident in Neighbourhood Unit No. 129, Nyongbyon County township.
Medical workers of the hospital lost no time in forming an urgent treatment team and buckled down to intensive treatment.
They had 15 medical conferences and over 30 rounds of technical consultations to apply advanced medical science and technology.
After taking measures to wake her from shock, they performed five rounds of blood transfusion for preventing blood from poisoning and over ten rounds of necrotomy. Various kinds of antibiotics, vitamins, tonics and other high-priced medicines and tonics were administered to the patient.
Over 80 persons, including doctors and nurses of the hospital and officials of the county people’s committee, donated their skins without hesitation during four rounds of grafting.
Their warm care and devotion brought her back to life after 20 weeks.
Leaving the hospital, Pak Un Ju said in tears: How can I come to life again apart from the benefits of our socialist system which believes in the people as in heaven and spares nothing for them.
Blessed people
An old man resident in Rangnang District of Pyongyang fell down on the road due to an accidental cerebral contusion in last May. He was carried to the hospital of the Pyongyang Kim Jong Suk Textile Mill.
Its medical workers took first-aid measures to lower his increased blood pressure and cope with impending symptoms. After moving him into a sick-room, they kept their eyes on the patient, administering injections to him.
After a while, the old man came to his senses and shed tears of gratitude for them who made devoted efforts for him though they had no acquaintance with him.
With his conditions improved, the factory hospital sent him to the Rangnang District People’s Hospital according to the medical service system of the State.
Seeing off the old man, the director of the Rangnang District People’s Hospital said:
Our people are the happiest in the world, as they enjoy the benefits of free medical care system by law.
