Pyongyang, February 27 (KCNA) -- The first Friday action this year was staged outside the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan on February 21 to reject the Japanese authorities' moves for stamping out the Korean national education and to defend the Koreans' right to national education.

It was attended by officials of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) including Nam Sung U, vice-chairman of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee, Song Kun Hak, director of the Education Department, and So Chung On, director of the Department for International Affairs and Reunification, Korean students and teachers, officials of the central leadership bodies and affiliates, parents of Korean students including a member of the Liaison Society for Protecting Korean Kindergartens in Kanto and members of Japanese organizations and Japanese figures of all social standings.

Nam Sung U, who is also chairman of the Central Measure Committee for Free Upbringing of Children, called upon compatriots of all social strata and students to more vigorously conduct the struggle for defending the right to national education by their concerted efforts.

Japanese lawmakers and figures of solidarity organizations made solidarity speeches.

And a delegate of the Liaison Society for Protecting Korean Kindergartens and delegates of students of Korean University and Korean high schools made speeches.
