“It is a legitimate step for China to have adopted a decision on establishing and perfecting a legal system and an enforcement mechanism for safeguarding national security in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on the basis of the Constitution of China and the organic law of Hong Kong at the Third Session of the 13th National People's Congress,” the DPRK Foreign Ministry spokesman told KCNA on May 30.
The serious situation that has been created in Hong Kong in recent years has posed a threat to China’s principle of “one country, two systems” and its national security, the spokesman said, adding this is the product of a scheme of outside forces and their followers aimed at tarnishing the image of the socialist country, fomenting and escalating a social disorder and thereby splitting and undermining the country.
Since the Hong Kong issue totally belongs to the internal affairs of China, no country or force has the right to find fault with it, he noted, resolutely opposing and rejecting outside interference detrimental to the stability and social and economic development of the region.
