Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un visited the Pyongyang Orphanage on June 1, 2014 to congratulate the orphaned children on International Children’s Day.
He shook hands with the officials and teachers of the orphanage, saying he came to see the children celebrating their holiday.
As he entered the amusement hall, the children ran into his loving embrace competitively.
Stroking the cheeks of the children who tried to cling to him tightly, he affectionately asked them what games they played and if they had delicious foods.
Looking at the cute faces of the children who boasted what they did and ate counting them on their fingers with a broad smile on his face, he said he was pleased to hear that they were enjoying the holiday and see all of them wearing sweet smiles.
He also gave them a hand as they sang songs as if frolicking in front of their fathers.
He then made his way to the dining room and asked the children having supper which dishes were tasty, before instructing officials to make various dishes from the same materials to suit their tastes.
After learning how they processed the cooking materials sent by the Party, he told the officials how to feed them honey and other nourishing foods and said that it is important to feed them well in nutritive value and give them regular physical training including the exercises to help them grow tall as well in order to bring them up healthily,.
The country brightens when it rings with happy laughter of the children, he said, earnestly requesting the teachers to look after them like their own parents. It is said that 50 000-man-days’ work is needed for bringing up a child, meaning a great deal of efforts should be directed to bringing up the children, he said as he highly appreciated the painstaking efforts of the teachers who took care of the many orphaned children. He called on them to bring them up well so that renowned scientists, sportspersons, artistes, soldiers and heroes would come from them.
