Shortly ago, a research institute under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan posted on Internet a video clip asserting its “dominion over Tok Islets”.
The video clip shows an old man in his eighties arguing that Tok Islets are “part of Japanese territory,” saying he heard from his grandfather several times that he had caught fishes around Tok Islets in the late 1880s.
The silly farce is nothing but another fabrication by the Japanese authorities who are obsessed with the wild ambition to seize Tok Islets.
This year alone, Japan specified in the diplomatic blue book once again that Tok Islets are “part of Japanese territory”, expanded the “exhibition of territorial sovereignty” on a large scale allegedly to provide documentary evidence and examined and passed en masse textbooks for middle schools which carry the ridiculous argument that “Tok Islets have always been part of Japanese territory”.
With the politicians making provocative remarks continuously, a meeting calling for retaking Tok Islets took place in the Diet, at which such war-thirsty remarks as seizing the islets through war were openly made.
Japan’s persistent attempts to seize the islets are an unpardonable infringement on the sovereignty of the Korean nation and wanton violation of historical justice and truth.
In almost all of Japan’s historical records as well as old Korean geographical books and historical documents Tok Islets are recorded as an inalienable part of Korean territory and such historical documents and maps continue to be opened to the public one after another.
Japan, in disregard of historical facts and principles of international law, still insists that Tok Islets are part of its territory, which is aimed at instilling in its people the idea that the islets are a "lost territory", thereby finding “justification” for overseas invasion and realizing the wild ambition for reinvasion it has cherished so far since its defeat in World War II.
