Data books on the undying feats made by the men and officers of the Korean People’s Army during the 1950-1953 Fatherland Liberation War can be seen at the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum in Pyongyang.
Among them are combat stories about the KPA soldiers’ heroism and bravery displayed through lots of battles in July Juche 42 (1953), the last period of the war.
At that time, the enemies made last-ditch efforts for "honorable armistice".
In order to hasten the final victory in the war by wringing the windpipe of the aggressors, President Kim Il Sung, a gifted military strategist and invincible and iron-willed commander, organized three striking attacks on "Taedaejang" Hill, "Mt Mal" and Height 339 in the east front in mid-July 1953, which were fortified with various tunnels, pillboxes, wire entanglements and mine fields by the enemies.
At night of July 16, 1953, KPA units launched attacks on "Taedaejang" Hill and “Mt Mal" the enemies were boasting as "impregnable fortresses". They gave a powerful strike to the enemies under the gunfire support and captured the hill and mountain at last. And three heroes of the Republic were produced in the battles.
Such achievements were also made in the battle on Height 339.
Meanwhile, Rodong Sinmun dated July 22, 1953 carried a report of the KPA Supreme Headquarters that KPA combined units in the central sector of the front killed or captured more than 26 000 enemy troops and seized or destroyed lots of combat equipment, including tanks, vehicles, airplanes and artillery pieces, in the July 13-18 battles.
