In the DPRK there is a collection of reminiscences “Among the People”.

The collection of reminiscences impressively shows the noble popular traits of President Kim Il Sung who was among the people during his whole life to share sentiments and feelings with them and relying on them to lead the revolution and construction to victory.

As many as tens of millions of its copies have been published until now since 1962 when the first copy was issued.

It contains memoirs of glorious and happy life the Korean people led as family members of the President. Hundreds of thousands of copies were distributed to such several countries as China, Japan, US, UK and Germany, etc. World famous newspapers and magazines also carried in serial the reminiscences of the collection.

As the title shows, it is a peerlessly great person’s record which tells the noble popular traits of the President who was among the people and devoted his all to the people during his whole life.

President Kim Il Sung said.

“I started my revolutionary activities by going among the people and today, too, I am continuing to make the revolution by mixing with the people. I am also reviewing my life by going among the people.”

The President’s revolutionary leadership history records the protracted period of nearly 70 years. During this period the President was the prestigious general of the partisan, the general secretary of the ruling party, the President of the state and the Supreme Commander of the revolutionary armed forces. But he had never made any mistakes in the lines or any slightest vacillations in the leadership practice but led the Korean revolution to victory, thus creating a miracle in the history of the world politics. The miracle is based on the noble motto of the President who was among the people and regarded them as his teacher during his whole life.

Embarking on the road of the revolution at his early teens, the President shared bitters and sweets with the people who shed tears of the ruined nation and united them into one to liberate the country and build a people’s country dignified with independence.

When we stand on the fork road to Mangyongdae, it still reminds us of the President who left behind his native home Mangyongdae he had dreamed of visiting and went to visit steel plant workers after liberation of the country. When we visit a steel plant, we can hear the President who took a seat on a broken wall concrete and earnestly appealed the workers to remove the ruins as immediately as possible.

We can picture a humble straw mat the President sat on when he discussed farming with the farmers if we are at farms, nets he touched with fishermen if at fishing farms and traces of him who went even to a pit face to arouse the workers to the increasing of coal production if at coal mines.

Like this, throughout his life the President was among the people and aroused the people and, by relying on their inexhaustible strength, developed the Korean revolution and made an ever-victorious history. They were the historic days when new political practices and Juche-oriented popular leadership method unprecedented in the history of the world revolutionary movement were born and completed.

On July 6, 1994, the President said… Up to now, I have believed in the people, struggled for them, and lived among them. My whole life is a life devoted to the country and the nation, a life committed to the struggle with the people. In the future, too, I will always live with my people.

His saying is recorded forever in the histories of the Korean nation and the world revolutionary movement as a noble behest left during his last days.

There are many books which praise prominent figures and statesmen in human history. However, it never knows such a big biography of a great person, an immortal great person’s encyclopedia as “Among the People” where ordinary people wrote with emotion to compare greatness of their leader with the sky, the seas and the sun. It is an all-people song that can be received only by President Kim Il Sung, who took the people-bound train during his while life, recorded glory and victory in the history of the country and brought about miracle in the DPRK together with the people.
