One day Kim Il Sung visited Rev. Son Jong Do’s house.

Rev. Son asked Kim Il Sung what he was going to do at the time when the Japanese imperialists’ invading Manchuria seemed to be a matter of time.

Kim Il Sung said what he had thought in prison… I have an idea. I am going to form a large army and fight a decisive battle with the Japanese imperialists.

Rev. Son was surprised at Kim Il Sung’s saying as it was beyond his imagination that he was to fight the Japanese imperialists with guns.

Looking at his surprised face, Kim Il Sung said again… Yes, that is the way.

Rev. Son told him that the Independence Army as well as the Righteous Volunteers had been absent-minded about modern weapons of the Japanese imperialists.

What Rev. Son was concerned is whom Kim Il Sung would trust in and by what he would rely on to defeat the Japanese imperialists.

That day, Kim Il Sung keenly felt that the questions Rev. Son had asked were important ones to be answered without delay for the Korean revolution.

Cherishing noble mission that he should give answers to the questions for the sake of victorious start of the Korean revolution, Kim Il Sung deepened his speculation and inquiry.

In this course, Kim Il Sung came to conclusion that revolution emerges victorious when one believes in the people and relies on them and revolution fails if one is forsaken by them.

Kim Il Sung clarified at the historic winter meeting at Mingyuegou the truth that gives a clear-cut explanation to urgent matters of the era.

Kim Il Sung expressed his resolute will before the participants in the meeting, adding… We are sons of the ruined nation who were deprived of all rights, territory and resources.

However, we are going to challenge the Japanese imperialists without hesitation. By trusting in what? We have decided to start an anti-Japanese war by trusting in our people. The people are the state, the home front and the regular army. When the war starts, all people will become soldiers to fight…
