Events took place in China to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the entry of the Chinese People's Volunteers into the Korean front.
A meeting was held on Friday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing to mark the 70th anniversary of the Chinese People's Volunteers' departure from China to fight in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.
It was attended by President Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China, leading officials of the CPC and the state, veterans of the CPV, bereaved families of the CPV martyrs and others.
The participants observed a moment's silence in memeory of the CPV martyrs.
Xi Jinping made a speech at the meeting.
He said that the Chinese People's Volunteers held up the just banner of defending peace and rejecting aggression 70 years ago to fight bloody battles together with the Korean people and won victory.
The Korean Party, government and people valued and supported the CPV and the armies and peoples of the two countries forged the militant ties of friendship in blood sharing weal and woe with each other, he noted.
The victory achieved by China and the DPRK is of great significance in the national liberation struggle of the oppressed people of the world and in the change in the world strategic structure, he added.
He called for continuously advancing vigorously to fulfil the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation by displaying the spirit of resisting US aggression and aiding Korea, united more closely around the party central committee.
