The Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum, located on the banks of the Pothong River in the capital city of Pyongyang, has a hall for the Chinese People’s Volunteers (CPV) which shows the noble internationalist spirit and militant friendship displayed by the soldiers and peoples of the DPRK and China.
On display in the hall are data and historic relics which show the struggle of the CPV soldiers who performed heroic feats in the battles against the imperialist aggressors during the Fatherland Liberation War (June 1950–July 1953).
There are also data on the soldiers and peoples of the two countries who displayed the internationalist spirit, sharing weal and woe with each other for the victory in the war.
The CPV soldiers participated in the Korean war on October 25, Juche 39 (1950). They dealt heavy blows at the enemy in many operations and battles, including the operation at the Chongchon River and the battles on Lake Jangjin and Sanggam Pass, in close cooperation with the units of the Korean People’s Army.
They displayed unparalleled bravery and self-sacrificing spirit in all battles. Huang Jiguang, though he was wounded, blocked the enemy’s gun muzzle with his chest to ensure his unit’s charge.
The CPV soldiers loved the Korean people as they would do their own flesh and blood and sacrificed themselves to save their life and properties, and the latter rendered material and moral support to the former.
The fraternal Chinese people sent the CPV organized with their fine sons and daughters to the Korean front under the banner of “Resisting America and Aiding Korea, Protecting the Home and Defending the Motherland”. The model of their noble internationalism recorded a brilliant chapter in the history of the DPRK-China friendship.
In the run-up to the 70th anniversary of the CPV’s participation in the Korean front, visitors to the hall recollect the friendly feelings between the army and people of the two countries.
