Pyongyang, November 27 (KCNA) -- The number of animals is on the steady increase at the Central Zoo in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK.
This year, more than 200 species of animals dropped their young, the number of which amounts to at least 2,000.
Among them are two cubs reproduced by a bear sent by Chairman Kim Jong Il. They are now over 20 kilograms in weight respectively.
Spheniscus humboldtil, a gift animal a Russian personage presented to Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un in August Juche 102 (2013), too, brought forth two chicks. It has bred thrice at the zoo until this year and the total number of Spheniscus humboldtil is nine.
Meanwhile, monkeys, dogs and parrots also gave births to their young.
The Central Zoo is now striving to ensure the rearing of those young animals on a sci-tech basis under the winter condition.
