Sectional consultative meetings of the Eighth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea were held on January 11.

The consultative meetings of different sectors started the study of draft decision for thoroughly implementing the tasks set forth in the report on the work of the Party Central Committee.

Choe Ryong Hae, Jo Yong Won, Ri Pyong Chol and Kim Tok Hun, Members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK, and other members of the Party Central Leadership Organ guided the sectional consultative meetings.

Discussed at the meetings were practical issues for implementing the goals and tasks to be achieved in all sectors of socialist construction in coming five years for a new advance and development of the revolution.

The delegates unanimously acknowledged the fact that scientific, realistic, dynamic development orientation and specific ways are badly needed for their sectors and units in order to firmly turn the overall work of the Party and the state into the way of directing and encouraging new innovation, bold creation and constant advance.

Also discussed were the pressing issues for the Cabinet to fully carry out the cabinet responsibility system, cabinet-centred system,  as the headquarters of the economy, the main front for opening new broad avenue of the socialist construction, powerfully promote the work for strengthening the major levers and integral character of the national economy and improve economic management.

At the consultative meeting of industrial sectors, the delegates analyzed on the basis of scientific calculation and numerical data the solutions to concentrating investment to metallurgical and chemical industries during the new 5-year plan for national economic development, normalizing productions in key industrial sectors including electric power, coal, machine and mining industries and strengthening independence, planning and popular characters of the national economy.

Discussed in depth at the consultative meeting of agricultural sector were the ways to unconditionally hit the goal of grain production put forward by the Party by directing efforts to the green revolution, scientific farming, increased yield in low-yield land, acquiring of new land and tideland reclamation, realizing irrigation and mechanization of agriculture and intensifying state assistance to agriculture.

Discussed at the consultative meeting of light industrial sector were the practical measures for accelerating modernization of light industrial sector with the localization of raw materials and recycling as its lifeline and main orientation, increasing quality of goods and increasing production of consumer goods by directing efforts to the development of new products.

At the consultative meeting of sectors of education, public health and culture, the delegates studied strategies for the development of their sectors and units concerning innovative ways and tasks of the socialist cultural construction set forth in the report of the Party Congress.

Fully calculated were the goals of scientific and technological development in different fields to be hit during the period of new 5-year plan by accelerating the development of science and technology as intended by the Party which stipulated it as a core task and best policy in building socialism and realistic possibilities for their implementation.

Forward-looking opinions were presented for the educational sector which are conducive to constantly updating the contents and methods of education and teaching administration system to suit the world trend of educational development and the pedagogical requirements, developing socialist pubic health by strengthening its material and technological foundation, consolidating anti-epidemic foundation to cope with any world public health crisis and opening up a new efflorescence by effecting remarkable revolution in the literature and art, the press and physical culture and sports.

The consultative meetings of military and munitions industry fields discussed issues arising in implementing the crucial strategic tasks for the strengthening of national defence capabilities, foundation of national existence and firm guarantee of defending dignity, security and peace of the country and people.

At the consultative meetings of the Party and working people's organizations, the delegates devoted themselves to the discussion of issues with high sense of responsibility abiding by the leading idea of the Party on effecting radical change in the party work and strengthening working people's organizations in line with the times and demand of the developing reality.

Scientific and innovative opinions possible to guarantee the implementation of decision of the Party Congress were brought together from the consultative meetings which were held in sincere and practical atmosphere through ample studies and active collective discussions.
