In his report to the Eighth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea, Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un set forth before the sports sector the tasks of redoubling efforts for making the DPRK join the ranks of advanced sports nations in line with the prestige and position of the dignified state.
Indeed, the tasks fill my heart with great excitement and a deep sense of responsibility.
Whenever we took part in international competitions with the flag of the DPRK on our chests, the immense prestige of Juche Korea encouraged us and filled our hearts with pride.
In order for our country to enter the ranks of advanced countries in sports, it arises as the most important matter to put sports on a scientific basis.
We will conduct all work in the sports sector from training and competition to raising of reserve players and production of sports equipment and materials on the basis of modern science and technology. In particular, we will put big efforts into developing sports science.
By doing so, we will be able to achieve epochal successes in the sports sector during the period of the new five-year plan for national economic development.
