Kim Kyong Hui living in neighbourhood unit No. 61 of Sonnae-dong in Mangyongdae District, Pyongyang, became able to taste kimchi after a lapse of 18 years.
The 65-year-old woman contracted linguopapillitis 18 years ago. Her tongue gradually reddened and papillae totally vanished from the flat of tongue. As the flat of her tongue was split, she suffered extreme pain and became unable to take pungent foods and even hot water.
One day in September last year, she happened to know through a newspaper article about a Koryo medicine developed by Kim Hyang Ok, a section chief of the Ministry of Railways Dental Hospital.
“Dr Kim closely examined me and encouraged me, saying my illness would be healed although I had been suffering from it for a long time,” said the old woman.
The medicine proved successful after some days of application.
As the tongue itched, cracked parts granulated, papillae began to spring up on its front and the splits completely healed later. She became able to have kimchi she liked so much to her heart’s content.
Kim Hyang Ok has been engaged in dentistry for scores of years. In the course of this she received lots of cases with sore mouth. In order to relieve their pain, she volunteered to develop a medicine for stomatitis and finally developed a multifunctional Koryo medicine with strong antibiotic and anti-inflammatory effects by using locally-abundant herbs after years of research.
It is efficacious in curing recurrent aphthous stomatitis, traumatic stomatitis, children’s stomatitis, glossopathy and other lingual disorders, and it was highly appreciated at several sci-tech festivals and exhibitions.
It restores damaged mucous membranes of the tongue and improves immunity in a short period. Furthermore, it is effective in preventing relapse and treating suppurative inflammation to draw the attention of the medical circles.
“Thanks to such competent medical workers as Kim Hyang Ok and the benefits of the socialist free healthcare system, I could recover my health,” said Kim Kyong Hui.
