The Fourth Session of the 14th Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK

was held at the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang on the 17th.

Present at the session were deputies to the Supreme People's Assembly. Also attending the session as observers were officials of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, the Cabinet, armed forces organs, ministries and national agencies, chief secretaries of the city and county Party committees, chairpersons of the city and county people's committees, chairpersons of the co-operative farm management committees and officials of the major factories and enterprises.

The platform was taken by Choe Ryong Hae, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and First Vice-Chairman of the State Affairs Commission and President of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK; Ri Pyong Chol, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK, Vice-Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Kim Tok Hun, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and Premier of the Cabinet of the DPRK.

The platform was also taken by members of the Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee, members of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, Vice-President, Secretary General and members of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly and Vice-Chairmen of the Supreme people's Assembly,

Choe Ryong Hae made an opening address.

The session decided the agenda items.

1. Organizational issue.

2. On thoroughly implementing the 5-year plan for national economic development presented at the Eighth Congress of the WPK.

3. On the settlement of the implementation of the state budget of the DPRK for Juche 109(2020) and on the state budget for Juche 110(2021).

The first agenda item was discussed.

Members of the Cabinet proposed by the deputy Kim Tok Hun, Premier of the Cabinet, upon authorization of the Central Committee of the WPK were appointed with unanimous approval.

Director of the Central Public Prosecutors Office was dismissed and appointed.

Premier Kim Tok Hun made a pledge on behalf of the members of the Cabinet.

The report on the second agenda item was made by Premier Kim Tok Hun and the third item by Minister of Finance Ko Jong Bom.

Speeches were made on the basis of the deep study of the reports.

The speakers referred to the fact that the precious successes encouraging the economic development of the country were made during the period of the implementation of the 5-year strategy for national economic development thanks to the outstanding leadership of the Party Central Committee and active efforts of the Korean people.

They said the implementation of the last year's state budget was correctly settled and the state budget for this year properly compiled and fully approved it.

They expressed their will to strengthen the potentiality and mightiness of the self-supporting economy in every way to vitalize the whole economy of the country and make a fresh change in the people's living in hearty response to the idea and spirit of the Eighth Party Congress which defined the self-reliance and self-sufficiency as the main seed and content of the new 5-year plan for national economic development.

The session adopted with unanimous approval the decree of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly "On thoroughly implementing the 5-year plan for national economic development presented at the Eighth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea," the decision "On approving the settlement of the implementation of the state budget of the DPRK for Juche 109(2020)" and the decree "On the state budget of the DPRK for Juche 110(2021)."
