Hundreds of thousands of schoolchildren join study tour for national liberation over 40 years

It has been 46 years since the students and schoolchildren of the DPRK started the study tour of the 1 000-ri Journey for National Liberation.
President Kim Il Sung made alone the 1 000-ri journey for national liberation in his teens, the 1 000-ri journey for revolution, with the firm resolve not to return home again before winning back the independence of the country lost to the Japanese imperialists and a do-or-die spirit. By doing it, he ushered in a new era of the revolutionary cause of Juche.
Chairman Kim Jong Il made sure that the study tour was significantly organized and traditionalized on a nationwide scale in order to train new generations into reliable stout reserves and pivots of the revolution. He sent congratulatory messages to the participants on several occasions, especially the 70th and 75th anniversaries of the President’s journey.
Over the past 40 years since the first study tour was undertaken in January 1975, hundreds of thousands of students and other schoolchildren have taken part in the expedition.
Through the study tour, students and schoolchildren fully acquired the indomitable revolutionary spirit and noble patriotic intention the President kept while making the journey. In the course of their difficult and hard journeys, they gave full play to the spirit of collectivism in which they helped and led one another forward, strong will to brave all trials, and independence and creativity.
And they were physically trained and spiritually grown up as they conducted a variety of political and cultural activities including the study session of the reminiscences of anti-Japanese guerrillas and question-and-answer study.
