Pyongyang, January 27 (KCNA) -- The Pothonggang Footwear Factory in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK, is a modern shoes production base.
After establishing a process of producing new types of sole, the factory is now striving to produce various kinds of light and flexible shoes.
The sole produced at it is light in weight and low in cost.
In this regard, Jang Ryong Hwan, technical section chief of the factory, told KCNA:
The factory has produced footwear of various types suited to the taste of people.
It is associated with the immortal feats of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il who devoted their all to the happiness of the people.
The President gave an instruction on modernly building the footwear factory in December Juche 60 (1971). When its construction was completed, he provided sewing machines, cutting machines, shoemaking machines, injection press and other footwear production equipment to the factory.
On May 20, 1973, he went round workshops of the factory for a long time, indicating the ways for the factory to follow one by one. He also saw to it that a school of skilled workers was established at the factory to educate hundreds of workers at one time.
Later, he gave on more than 100 occasions the important instructions for the factory's development.
The Chairman examined new-type shoes for women and other footwear produced by the factory in September 1983 and on other several occasions and took a measure to equip it with modern production means.
The factory is now striving to produce many more footwear favored by the people, true to the decisions of the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea. -0-
