Pyongyang, April 7 (KCNA) -- The Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) has always paid attention to the housing construction to provide the people with better civilized living conditions.
In the DPRK, the housing construction is regarded as a work for the people's wellbeing, rather than for any economic profit and, accordingly, it has continued without letup even under the unfavorable conditions and circumstances and serious challenges and obstacles.
In the period from 2012 to 2020 alone, large-scale streets and many dwelling houses were built in Pyongyang and local areas and assigned to people free of charge, under the special care of the WPK and the DPRK government.
Changjon Street appeared in 2012, Unha Scientists Street and Wisong Scientists Residential District in 2013 and 2014, Mirae Scientists Street in 2015 and Ryomyong Street in 2017. And erected in a peculiar style in 2013-2014 were the apartment houses for educators of Kim Il Sung University and Kim Chaek University of Technology in which the formative art of architecture and the convenience in life were ensured on the highest level.
Meanwhile, Samjiyon City has turned into a model of mountainous town under socialism, an epitome of modern civilization, thanks to the WPK's grand conception of construction and wise guidance.
When various parts of the country suffered a big damage from disastrous downpours, floods and typhoons in 2015, 2016 and 2020, all the national manpower, material and technical potentials were mobilized and concentrated on the housing construction as the primary object of recovery.
Under the crucial measures taken by the WPK, houses for more than 1 800 families were built in flood-damaged Rason City in one month and more than 11 900 flats in one hundred and tens of areas of disaster-stricken North Hamgyong Province in a matter of 50 days. And new villages and houses for at least 20 000 families came into being in Kaesong City and other disaster-stricken areas of Kangwon, North and South Hwanghae and South Hamgyong provinces all at once in a few months.
In January this year, the historic 8th Congress of the WPK adopted the construction of 50 000 flats in Pyongyang City as a state policy.
The projects for building 10 000 flats and the Pothong Riverside Terraced Residential District for 800 flats are now progressing apace in Pyongyang. -0-
