Premier Kim Tok Hun, who is member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, inspected the construction site of 10 000 flats in Pyongyang and the Central Tree Nursery under the Ministry of Urban Management.
Looking round the construction site, he underlined the need to enhance the responsibility and role of officials in designing, construction and supervision. He said that the metal industry and rail transport field should put efforts into increasing iron and steel production and quickly carrying materials and other relevant sectors give top priority to the timely supply of materials and equipment needed for the construction project. He also called for accelerating the project while giving precedence to infrastructure construction.
At the Central Tree Nursery, he pointed to the need to increase the production of saplings of good tree species for landscaping with the main emphasis put on raising the scientific and intensive level of sapling production.
The field consultative meetings discussed the ways for the construction units to fully meet the requirements of designs and construction methods in the building of houses and carefully organize and guide the construction with effective methods and to improve landscaping in Pyongyang including the production of good landscaping designs to provide better ecological environment for the city.
