The great leader
Kim Il Sung
visited Chongsan-ri, Kangso District of Nampho City, 85 times.
It is in Chongsan-ri that the Chongsanri spirit and Chongsanri method, the mass leadership idea and method of the Workers' Party of Korea, were created and the famous song "A Bumper Harvest in the Chongsan Plain" was written.
The historic land tells moving stories about his devotion and efforts.
On October 10, Juche 47(1958)
Kim Il Sung
sat on a straw mat without ceremony to have a talk with local farmers.
Researcher Sim Hyang Mi at the Korean Revolution Museum says:
"The great leader
Kim Il Sung
sat on a straw mat in the threshing ground without ceremony, saying to officials: No need to enter the room. It is said that one gets more familiar nearby. Let's sit on the straw mat and have a talk.
Then he talked to farmers about the issue on developing the cooperative economy on a large scale.
He said that if the cooperatives are merged, it is possible to make a more rational use of land and manpower and develop the cooperative economy in a many-sided way and it is much more favourable in the irrigation project and mechanization. In this way he taught in plain words how to merge the cooperatives."
Kim Il Sung
called at Chongsan-ri in cold winter and hot summer, early in the morning, and on holidays and red-letter days in order to make it model of the whole country.
When he saw rice plants wither because of salt water, he went out to a reservoir to taste its water. On an early spring day he taught one by one how to grow young rice plants. He also found out the reason of low yield and chose new site of vegetable field.
One day he sent rice-seedling transplanters to Chongsan-ri and heard the farmers say they were working easily on the paddy fields. Early in winter of a year he visited Chongsan-ri and drew even a design of new houses.
Thanks to him, a model farm of the country could be built in Chongsan-ri, which is good to live in and work.
Indeed,
Kim Il Sung
walked paddy lanes in rain and the rough path between sloping fields for the people all his life. But he regarded it as his pleasure.
