"Kim Man Jung wrote Korean novels with his progressive aesthetic view of the unique language and novels of Korea, making a great contribution to the development of novels of Korea.
According to documents, he wrote typical novels including the 'Story of Mrs. Sa's Deportation to the South' when he was living in exile."
The 7-chapter novel "Story of Mrs. Sa's Deportation to the South" was written by Kim Man Jung in the latter half of the 17th century.
The novel criticized the social evil practices produced by the feudal concubinage, with the happening in the Royal Court as its theme.
It made a complicated plot through the destinies of the main characters and the relations with a number of persons, retaining well the structure and feature of a full-length novel.
It is one of the typical classical novels which showed the then corrupt feudal society and created the human characters in a comparatively vivid way with the unique spoken and written Korean language. It exerted an influence on the development of realistic novels afterwards.
