Direct Challenge to Justice of History and World General Public

Date: 30/04/2021 | Source: Ministry of Foreign Affairs (EN) | Read original version at source

It is already 75 years since the defeat of the Japanese imperialism. However, the Japanese authorities would not yet break with their past militarism.

It is reported that Suga, Japanese Prime Minister and other Cabinet members paid tributes to Yasukuni Shrine on April 21 on the occasion of spring festival, and Abe, former Prime Minister of Japan, also visited the Shrine to pay respect to the specters of militarism. Yasukuni Shrine is where the mortuary tablets of 14 A-class war criminals sentenced severely by the international society for having committed the gravest crimes against humanity in the previous century are preserved.

These moves should be viewed in a context of the vetting and the approving by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan of the history textbook to be used at high schools from 2022 – textbook where the Japanese invasion of the Asian continent is described as “expedition” that delivered “civilization” and “prosperity”, and the contents of its aggression history including the occupation and colonial rule over Korea and the crimes of sexual slavery for the Japanese army are all distorted and justified.

Implanting correct view on history in new generations is a must as it is a moral obligation of the time, and it has a direct bearing on the future of Japan.

It is only Japan on this planet, which is so carried away by militarism and wild reprisal ambition that it is stubbornly negating the facts of its past war crimes, super-class inhumane crimes acknowledged by the entire humankind on the basis of countless number of clear evidences and that it is implanting the distorted and fabricated view on history in new generations.

The glorification by the Japanese authorities of the spectres of militarism is an exposure of the Japanese reprisal ambition to embellish their history of aggression and revenge their defeat. Lurking behind this move is the sinister policy to realize by all means their old dream of “Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere.”

Notwithstanding the change of generations and the passage of centuries, history cannot be erased or altered.

Japan should stop its act of directly challenging the justice of history and the world general public, knifing all the while the bitter wounds of the victims and their descendants inflicted by the Japanese war of aggression.
