Pyongyang, May 2 (KCNA) -- All the people across the country marked the 131st May Day, the international holiday of the working people over the world, at a time when they are dynamically advancing full of confidence about the bright future of our style socialism under the leadership of the great Workers' Party of Korea.

The whole country is full of joy and optimism of the working people including those in great construction sites, factories and co-op farms replete with fresh innovation, bold creation and steady advance for carrying out the decisions made at the historic 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and the 2nd Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the WPK.

Officials of the Party and the government visited major sites of the socialist construction Saturday to congratulate the working people.

Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, first vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly, Ri Pyong Chol, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Party and secretary of the Party Central Committee, Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee and premier of the DPRK Cabinet, went to the construction sites of 10 000 flats in Pyongyang, the Chollima Steel Complex and others to commemorate the holiday with the builders and the workers.

Party and government officials Jong Sang Hak, Choe Sang Gon, Kim Jae Ryong, O Il Jong, Kim Yong Chol, Ri Son Gwon, Kim Song Nam, Ho Chol Man, Pak Thae Dok, Kim Hyong Sik, Pak Myong Sun, Ri Chol Man, Thae Hyong Chol, Pak Jong Gun, Yang Sung Ho, Kim Yong Hwan and officials of the Cabinet and Party and power organs at all levels visited construction sites in the capital city, the Sangwon Cement Complex, the Pyongyang Kim Jong Suk Textile Mill, the Taechong Co-op Farm in Unpha County, the Sunchon Phosphatic Fertilizer Factory, the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex and other factories and enterprises and farms to meet working people, agricultural workers and intellectuals.

In the construction sites of 10 000 flats in Pyongyang and the construction site of Pothong Riverside Terraced Residential District, the officials of the Party and the government encouraged the builders of various units registering remarkable achievements while creating the new Pyongyang speed and construction myth, out of single loyal intention to bring into reality the cherished desire of our Party to provide our people with more stable and civilized living conditions, while working with them.

Talking about the world of devoted service for the people's wellbeing of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who made a determination to stage great construction which will leave another significant landmark in the history of construction of the capital city and provides energetic guidance, the Party and government officials called for wonderfully building the ideal streets for people at the level required by the Party within the period set by the Party so as to put the plan and determination of the Party Central Committee into practice and make happy people's laughter reverberate further and wider.

At the industrial establishments and farms in different places, the officials of the Party and government placed floral baskets and bouquets before the mosaics depicting President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il and paid tributes.

They encouraged labor innovators at production sites, workers' hostels and other places and asked them to learn from the fighting spirit and traits displayed by the heroes during the post-war rehabilitation and construction period and Chollima era in the 1950s and put spurs to the first year advance of the new five-year plan and bring about substantial change and tangible achievements.

The officials of the Party and government enjoyed sports and entertainment games like volleyball, table tennis and yut games and art performances given by itinerant art squads with working people.

The happy appearance of the working people creating socialist civilization with worthwhile labor for opening up the period of new upsurge and turn of the socialist construction added to the delight on holiday.

The working people across the country are full of enthusiasm to kindle the flame of setting new standard and new record and to arouse the hot wind of collective innovation in all work sites full of confidence in the victory of the socialist cause while following the direction of historic advance indicated by the Party Central Committee. -0-
