The external revolutionary history of tireless and energetic leadership of the great Comrade Kim Il Sung , an outstanding leader of the independent cause of humankind and a world elder statesman, chronicles his historic visits to Algeria and Mauritania as well.

At the turn of the 1970s, the developing countries emerged as the main force in the world political arena and pushed ahead with the Non-Aligned Movement vigorously to smash high-handedness and arbitrariness of imperialism and establish a new independent and peaceful international order. Regarding this trend as a thorny in their flesh, the imperialists and colonialists made obstructive moves to check it, thus rendering the international situation complex as ever.

All countries unfettered from colonialism aspired to invite the Great Leader, the lodestar of the world independence cause, to their countries respectively and get advice on the building of a new independent society.

Having extended support – both morally and materially – with constant and close attention to the struggle of the peoples in developing countries, the Great Leader paid state visits to Algeria and Mauritania from May 26 to June 2, 1975.

During his visits, state leaders of these countries received him as their greatest national guest in all sincerity.

The state leader and people of Algeria extended lavish welcome to the Great Leader during the period from his arrival at the airport on May 26, 1975 till departure and conferred on him respectfully the title of Algerian honorary doctor at Algiers University and the honorary citizenship of Algiers City and the honorary citizen badge at a welcome mass meeting. All these culminated in more fervent reverence for him, unprecedented since the foundation of the country.

During the visit, the Great Leader appreciated the successes achieved by Algerian people in various fields for a short period after independence and indicated detailed ways for strengthening the south-south cooperation.

The Great Leader made a historic visit to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania from May 30 to June 1 in 1975.

The President of Mauritania, who had already met the Great Leader twice, awarded him the National Order of Merit, the highest order of his country, saying that he was privileged and honored to have the Great Leader in his country.

The Great Leader explained the President about the best way forward in detail, referring to the importance of addressing water problem and building a port in Mauritania and adding that these problems would be resolved when the President loves the people and the people follow the President.

Likewise, President Kim Il Sung , during the period of his historic visits to Algeria and Mauritania, put forward a clear-cut road for the peoples of developing countries in their struggle to lead an independent and peaceful life free from exploitation of imperialism and colonialism.

The immortal exploits President Kim Il Sung accomplished for the independent cause of humankind had been succeeded firmly by the great Leader Kim Jong Il and are now invariably being carried forward by Comrade Kim Jong Un , the President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

True to the noble intention of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un , we will make all our effort to further strengthen and develop the historic and traditional relations of friendship and cooperation with Algeria and Mauritania as required by the new century.
