An Old Man Takes a Seat on Rostrum

The Fourth National Conference of Activists in the Agricultural Sector was held in Pyongyang in December Juche 107(2018). Among those sitting on the rostrum was an old man nearing 70. He was Ju Yong Dok from Iram-ri, Yangdok County of South Phyongan Province. Though aged, he was sitting on the rostrum during the conference attended by the exemplary agricultural workers from across the country, drawing the attention of all people. One day in mid-August that year the respected Kim Jong Un, during his field guidance tour to Yangdok County, had his car stopped at a field all of a sudden to guess the weight of a rice plant and the number of the grains of unhulled rice on it. He looked for a while at the field with plump ears of rice. The field was a low-yielding one and an old man who had retired on a pension was taking good care of it of his own accord. He had been devoting himself to farming all his life. He was still devoting the remainder of his life to the increase of crops in order to give even a little help to the country. As he cultivated the field with sincerity, its fertility increased year after year and a gratifying crop was witnessed that year. Kim Jong Un didn't casually look at the paddy fields passing by his car window but read the sincerity of the real farmer. Some months later, one December day, he remembered a small field in Iram-ri just before the conference to be attended by the activists in the agricultural sector and suggested inviting the old man Ju Yong Dok to the conference. This is how the old man took a seat on the rostrum of the Fourth National Conference of Activists in the Agricultural Sector. Together with other participants in the conference the old man had the honour of having a photograph taken with Kim Jong Un. Kim Jong Un highly appreciates the excellent people who are devoting their all to the prosperity of the country with patriotism and honours their life.
