The Pledge He Made before the Red Party Flag

The great leader Kim Jong Il started working at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea on June 19, Juche 53(1964). Jang Un Il, Section Chief of the Academy of Social Sciences, says: "The great Kim Jong Il sat up all night in his office room on the first day when he started to work at the Party Central Committee. Coming out into the garden together with officials early in the morning, he saw the red Party flag fluttering on the top of the office building of the Party Central Committee. He said: The history of our Party is the most glorious and brilliant history advanced under the red flag and the Party flag shows the great revolutionary history of the great leader Kim Il Sung. Now we should fly high the red flag. Whatever difficulties and trials may be in the way of the revolution, we should hold high the red flag of the revolution and fight more vigorously to accomplish his cause." That day Kim Jong Il said our Party should be strengthened and developed into the glorious Party of Kim Il Sung forever in the future. And he declared that it is his lifelong task to strengthen and develop the WPK into the Party of Kim Il Sung forever. It was the solemn pledge he made before the red flag of the WPK. Keeping the pledge all his life, Kim Jong Il made his painstaking efforts to strengthen and develop the WPK. Thanks to him, the august name and exploits of Kim Il Sung, the founder of the WPK, came to be immortal in the history of the Party. June 19 shines forever as the glorious day in the nearly 80-year-long history of the WPK.
