During the Fatherland Liberation War, the service personnel of the Korean People's Army turned out to defend the country in response to the call of the great leader Kim Il Sung. They defended every inch of the country at the cost of their blood by displaying unparalleled bravery and mass heroism.

They regarded the heights they defend as part of the country.

From the summer of Juche 40(1951) during the war, "my hill" movement was vigorously conducted at all units and subunits on the front.

The movement was initiated by a platoon leader Hero Han Kye Ryol.

Fighting on Heights 320 in mid-August Juche 39(1950), Han Kye Ryol encouraged the soldiers, saying: This is my heights. I can't step back from the heights.

In April next year, he fell in battle on a nameless hill. At his last moment, he said the hill of the motherland is his and asked his comrades-in-arms to defend the hill of the country to the last.

The "my hill" movement turned into the movement for the soldiers themselves and they devoted their youth and lives to defend an inch of the territory.

The soldiers of the People's Army fought at the cost of their lives, well aware that the heights they defend are linked to their home villages where their beloved family live.

When he couldn't move any more after getting seriously wounded in his legs and arms, Hero Kang Ho Yong rolled down to the enemy with a hand grenade in his mouth to kill the enemy before dying a heroic death.

His unit launched a movement to keep in record the revenge taken on the enemy for the fallen comrades-in-arms, rousing the broad masses of soldiers to the struggle for annihilating the enemy.

One day in June Juche 40(1951), Kim Il Sung highly praised the movement, while talking with heroes of the DPRK and model combatants.

Since then, revenge-registers were made and the movement to keep in record the revenge taken on the enemy for the fallen comrades-in-arms conducted in the People's Army, powerfully inspiring the service personnel with mass heroism.

Among those heroes produced during the Fatherland Liberation War are many members of the Democratic Youth League (Minchong), the then youth organization of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

Hero Jo Kun Sil was also a member of the Democratic Youth League. As he couldn't move himself due to serious injuries in his limbs, he pressed the trigger of his heavy machine-gun with his chin to kill the enemy.

Kim Il Sung awarded the title of "Minchong" to his heavy machine-gun.

The movement to win the title of "Minchong" was launched to kill more enemy by taking good care of the weapons and displaying their capability to the maximum, making a great contribution to strengthening the combat efficiency of the People's Army.

The heroic feats performed by the brave soldiers of the People's Army during the war are shining forever in the history of the country.
