The Juche idea serves as the banner of victory which illumines the way ahead of mankind for realizing the cause of independence.

Guiding ideology of the Korean revolution

President Kim Il Sung authored the Juche idea, which is based on the philosophical principle that man is the master of everything and decides everything.

He was born into a poor peasant family in Mangyongdae on April 15, 1912 when Korea was under the military occupation by the Japanese imperialists (1905-1945). As he grew up experiencing the miserable life of a ruined nation as the colonial slaves, he embarked on the road of revolution in his teens with a great ambition to win back his lost country. In the days of the revolutionary struggle he created the Juche idea that man is the master of his destiny and he has the strength to carve out his destiny.

Under the unfurled banner of Juche, he roused the masses of people to the 20-year-long revolutionary struggle to defeat the Japanese imperialist aggressors and thus achieved the historic cause of Korea’s liberation. He brought to a successful completion two rounds of reconstruction, two stages of social revolution and several stages of socialist construction in reliance on the inexhaustible strength of the masses. Under his leadership, the Korean people built a socialist state, independent, self-supporting and self-reliant in defence, based on the Juche idea.

The Juche idea, based on the integrated system of a man-centred philosophical idea, revolutionary theory and leadership method, clearly indicates the way for pushing forward the revolution and construction successfully however complicated the circumstances and conditions.

Chairman Kim Jong Il enriched and developed in a comprehensive way the Juche idea, formulated it as Kimilsungism and created a new history of miracles and changes in all spheres of socialist construction under the unfurled banner of modelling the whole society on Kimilsungism.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un formulated the revolutionary ideas of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il as Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, and leads the cause of socialism along the road of victory under the banner of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism.

Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, an integrated system comprising the Juche idea and the theories and methods of the revolution and construction elucidated by this idea, constitutes the eternal guiding ideology of the Korean revolution.

Idea of mankind

In the previous century, heads of party, state and government from various countries around the world aspiring after independence and socialism visited the DPRK to meet President Kim Il Sung . He told them the invaluable truth that, if a man takes to flunkeyism, he will become a fool; if a nation falls into flunkeyism, the country will be ruined; and if a party adopts flunkeyism, it will make a mess of the revolution and construction. And he stated that Juche in the idea, independence in politics, self-sufficiency in the economy and self-reliance in national defence--this is the slogan the Korean people held aloft in building a new society and the principle maintained by them.

His instructions indicated the road ahead of the peoples in Algeria, Mozambique and other countries in their struggle to throw off their colonial yoke of imperialism, achieve national independence and build a new society. As for this, progressive peoples around the world highly praised that President Kim Il Sung is a great man of history who lifted the globe with the lever of his Juche idea.

The Juche idea was rapidly spread throughout the world for its viability.

With the desire of the progressives around the world to follow and learn from the Juche idea which illumines the way ahead of carving out the human destiny growing stronger, the International Institute of the Juche Idea (IIJI) was founded in April Juche 67 (1978) and the Juche idea study groups were organized in many countries and regions.

Entering the 21st century, the Juche idea study groups were formed in larger numbers in several countries and regions to briskly conduct the study and dissemination of the idea.

Inoue Shuhachi, a social activist of Japan and honorary director-general of the IIJI, said: The Juche idea is an idea which man, with no exception, should learn from, and it deserves to be called the idea of mankind and the world though it was created in the DPRK.
