Restaurant allures customers with wheat starch noodles

There are many restaurants specializing in wedding party in different parts of Pyongyang.

Among them is the Kwangbok Wedding Restaurant located in Mangyongdae District.

It now provides wedding service after furnishing the third floor into a wedding hall in a distinctive style, and it has growing orders.

One of popular foods of the restaurant is noodles.

“The most favourite food of our people is noodles, especially buckwheat noodles. We racked our brains to make noodles to suit the characteristic features of our restaurant and finally brought out the dish made of wheat starch,” said manageress Ri Kyong Suk.

The noodles made of wheat starch and wild fruit, instead of the traditional material of buckwheat, have the same colour with buckwheat noodles. So it is difficult to know that their main material is different from the traditional one at a sight.

“One of the most important thing in making noodles is meat stock. We preserve the taste peculiar to meat stock with pork alone, rather than chicken or beef,” said cook Choe Yong Sun.

Condiments made with sesame, red pepper and other materials further enhance the taste of noodles.

If you have smooth black brown noodles in meat stock with slices of boiled meat, seasoned cucumber and cabbage, pear and half of a boiled egg as a garnish, you can enjoy a savoury and attractive taste and refreshing feelings.

Those who have once tasted the wheat starch noodles at the restaurant become regular diners, attracted by the special flavour that they have never felt before.

Besides, the restaurant serves some 30 kinds of foods including catfish soup, steamed trotters and fried chicken.
