The American media have recently released an alarming report that reckless shootings by the police have claimed more than 400 lives of drivers and passengers over the last 5 years.
The police reportedly opened fire on the drivers ruthlessly although the drivers didn’t possess guns or lethal weapons, nor break traffic regulations, nor drive stolen vehicles.
Analysis of case files, videos or audio files prove that these tragicomic incidents are taking place more than once a week across the country because of the excessive reaction by the police in the absence of any threat.
More surprising is that the police officers who commit crimes are hardly subjected to legal punishment but rather appraised.
Actually, out of more than 400 cases of killing by shooting, the number of cases brought to court is reportedly 32, and only five of them were announced to be guilty.
In January 2019, one policeman in Colorado shot and injured a 20-year-old pregnant woman driving a car and killed her company for the reason that he felt “menace” coming from the car. The policeman, nonetheless, was found innocent, and one year later, awarded a medal with the appraisal of “brave action” from the police authorities.
This is the real picture of human rights situation in the U.S., a self-proclaimed “law-governed state.”
The American police are now accepted as “uniformed violence group”, and this is for this reason that people hesitate to dial the police phone number 911 even in a dangerous situation.
It is so understandable, given the facts that it was the police who strangled George Floyd to death, and unleashed a dog to bite a person.
People-frightening police, police married to racial discrimination and human rights violation, above-the-law police – these are the true pictures of the U.S. police.
There would be no need of asking as to the quality of American society so governed by the police.
