The recent rise in violent crime and racial discrimination by the American teenagers has become a matter of public concern.
A shooting incident by teenagers in Georgia driven by their worsened interpersonal relations, and an incident of murdering a teacher by 16-year-old students in Iowa – all of these incidents indicate that the violent crimes by teenagers are on rapid increase in all parts of the United States.
According to the latest report by a government agency, the number of hate crime in the U.S. has hit an all-time high since 2008, and the number of juvenile crimes has taken a larger proportion.
Against this backdrop, the acts of racial discrimination rooted in extreme hatred are also getting widespread, amplifying the social unrest.
A tragedy happened on November 6 where a 10-year-old black student at an elementary school in Utah, committed suicide, overwhelmed by the humiliation and contempt he had suffered from the harassment by his classmates.
He had been normally scorned by his classmates for the reason that “there is a bad smell from him”, and forced by his form teacher to be seated at the far back of the classroom - all of these were the harsh racial discrimination against him. After all, he couldn’t go to school without deodorant.
Nevertheless, his classmates had kept on harassing him with vulgar words coined specifically to target the black.
More surprising is that the form teacher had turned a deaf ear to the protest of the student’s parents and that the principal had also turned it down, shifting the responsibility to other teacher.
White students are receiving preferential treatment over the black students, and the black students are painfully spending their time at the schools, putting up with the humiliation and contempt by the white students. These are becoming common practices and “code of conducts” in every school of the United States.
Rapid increase in aforementioned misdeeds by the American teenagers reinforces the impossible to eliminate the violent culture and racial discrimination in the U.S., and it casts a darker shadow over the already shadowed American future.
