In the course of successfully enforcing the universal 11 - year compulsory education and fulfilling the tasks set forth in the Theses on Socialist Education, bases for training talents were set up and dynamic efforts were made to improve general secondary education with the bases as a model. As a result lots of talented reserves of scientists and technicians were produced to greatly contribute to the development of the country’s science and technology.
The successes are attributable to the idea of education of rising generations put forward by President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il and their energetic leadership.
In reflection of the unprecedentedly soaring demand for improved education in the new century of the Juche era and the actual demand arising from all- round construction of a powerful socialist country, the government promulgated the law on enforcing the universal 12- year compulsory education on September 25 2012.
