Along with the fatherly devotion associated with the admirably great love for the coming generation, an underpinning of prosperous and powerful country, a touching scene of love for the posterity is unfolded on this sunny land with the beginning of the new year.

An important measure to provide, at the state's expense, all the students across the country with new-style, high-quality school uniforms and bags was again taken at the historic Plenary Meeting of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, surprising the whole world.

The world had witnessed the day four years ago when the respected Marshal Kim Jong Un visited Chongjin Bag Factory in the sweltering mid-summer heat and benevolently gave instructions concerning the thickness of shoulder straps of a schoolbag while personally putting the bag on his back.

At the time of his field guidance during those days, he had seen schoolchildren uncomfortably carrying their bags in one hand and other belongings and musical instruments in another hand. He was not pleased to see it and said that we should make excellent backpacks for our children. In retrospect, the production of children’s bags has started since then, quietly but with high enthusiasm touching everyone’s heart.

In order to provide the children with our own bags of highest quality, he sent the designers the references on bag production, totaling 100-plus pages, thus broadening their professional knowledge. He even found himself being a bag designer and producer, personally examining more than 450 bag designs.

The efforts and the love he dedicated to the children are endless. Yet, when he visited Pyongyang Bag Factory that is mass-producing school bags, the respected Marshal Kim Jong Un said in emotion that he feels like being in another world and would not likely forget the day, and he personally named new school bag “Sonamu” (Pine Tree) as if he is giving the best name to a new-born baby.

The world has never seen such a state leader who took up the issue of school bags – which was overlooked by most of the parents – as a consistent policy of the Party and state, and continues to take important measures pertaining to the issue.

There is a Korean saying that those who brought me up are dearer to me than those who only brought me forth.

When we look around the world, there are too many children who are withering away in the vortex of famine, poverty and disorder hidden behind the curtain of dazzlingly grandiose appearance.

Just as people miss light in darkness and look for warm heat and affection, what the children are yearning for most is love and affection.

The very love that many children in the world are yearning for, and the parental affection that is devoted for unimpaired and upright growth of the children are overflowing on this land as much as air.

The history of loving the posterity that is envied by the world will continue forever on this land, as we hold in high esteem the dear father who brings up the future of the country more with his warmest parental affection than with ideology and politics.
