Last year, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea gave precedence to the construction of dwelling houses to provide its people with more civilized living conditions and pushed ahead with it vigorously.
The construction of 10 000 flats in the Songsin and Songhwa areas in the capital city of Pyongyang was near to completion as another massive residential area. The third-stage Samjiyon City project in Ryanggang Province in the northern part of the country was brought to completion, with the result that it was turned into a good model of cultured mountainous city and an ideal local city.
Besides, the construction of 5 000 dwelling houses in the Komdok area made successful headway, and the rehabilitation from flood damage was conducted successfully in South and North Hamgyong provinces.
Thousands of new flats were built in Jagang Province, and hundreds of houses respectively in Kusong City of North Phyongan Province and Phyongwon County of South Phyongan Province.
One hundred and tens of houses were built in sunny places of Haephyong-ri, Kaephung District and Sinhung-ri, Phanmun District in Kaesong City. They are so well arranged as to ensure convenience in the living of farmers, and fruit trees planted in the courtyards add more beauty to the landscape of villages.
Rangnang District in Pyongyang erected one hundred and tens of houses peculiar to the countryside in its surrounding farms and allocated them to farmers.
All the householders were deeply moved by the beneficent policy of the Party and the state which ensured that wonderful houses were built and distributed to them free of charge.
The Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea held at the end of last year stressed that a new revolution in construction should be made for fundamentally changing the living environments of the people so as to continue to usher in the heyday of the capital city construction, including the building of 10 000 flats planned for 2022, and open an era when the local areas would change.
