Agricultural workers at the Tongjong Cooperative Farm in Kangnam County of Pyongyang are making full preparations for this year's farming to carry out the decisions adopted at the Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.
What is noteworthy is the daily and weekly technical studies.
The farm built a data base in the agricultural sci-tech learning space and runs it on a normal basis so that the farmers can learn the advanced farming techniques.
Especially, with the increase in the area for wheat cultivation, technical study is intensified to learn the relevant agricultural science and technology and farming methods and the ways to cope with disastrous weather.
Last year, a lot of farmers reaped a good harvest in low-yielding fields at the farm.
On the basis of their experiences, all other farmers are encouraged to find out what was good and what was wrong in last year's farming and take relevant measures.
The farm has many discharged soldiers who volunteered to work there last year after their military service.
Chief Engineer Ri Won Chol has this to say:
"When the hard core of the farm is strong, all the farm work is done properly and everything goes smoothly.
So, we enroll the discharged soldiers in the study-while-you-work system and encourage them to become pillars of the farm."
The agricultural workers of the farm are sharing experiences not only in the sci-tech learning space but also in the fields and on the way home and back with one aspiration to reap a rich harvest at any cost this year.
