It was one day on the threshold of May Day, holiday of the working people in the world, in the year after Korea’s liberation from Japanese military rule.
During his field guidance tour of North Hamgyong Province, General Kim Il Sung saw a schedule of the May Day celebratory events worked out by officials. The plan contained a mass demonstration to mark the day, in which officials of North Hamgyong Province and Chongjin City would ride horses in the van of a column of paraders.
That evening, as the General told an official about the schedule he had seen in the morning, he said workers and peasants were the most precious people and pillars of the country in liberated Korea and so they should be placed in the van of the paraders. This is the firm stand and viewpoint of the Party on the masses of the people, he instructed earnestly.
Workers and peasants should be placed in the van.
Under the benevolent care of the General, who put forward the working people as the masters of everything, the Korean workers and peasants could greet the first May Day after liberation full of joy and strong emotion.
