Kim Jong Un, president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, sent a message of greeting to Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, president of the Russian Federation, on May 9.
The message extended the warmest congratulations and greetings to the president, friendly government and people of Russia on behalf of the government and people of the DPRK on the occasion of the anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War in Russia.
It said that the Russian people won a great victory in the great war of justice to destroy fascism that threatened the destiny of mankind by displaying matchless heroism and self-sacrificing spirit.
The feats and achievements of the Russian people are clearly remembered by the world people who love justice and peace and will go down forever, it pointed out.
It extended firm solidarity to the cause of the Russian people to root out the political and military threat and blackmail by the hostile forces and safeguard the country's dignity, peace and security by inheriting the immortal tradition of victory.
It expressed belief that the strategic and traditional relations of friendship between the two countries would steadily develop in conformity with the requirements of the times and the basic interests of the two peoples.
