Late at night on December 15 1945, the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung called in an official in the sector of public health.
He asked the official whether an agreement on the fund for anti-epidemic work was reached with the bureau of finance. When the official replied no, he instantly called in the director of the bureau.
To the bureau director, he said: It is a very important matter to provide anti-epidemic facilities as our newly-liberated country is much threatened by possible inroads of infectious diseases from outside. If dreadful infectious diseases infiltrate and spread in our country, it will cause not only much loss of life but also as much damage to the revolutionary work. There is nothing more precious than human life in the world. We just do the revolution only for the interests and happiness of the people.
Then, stressing the importance of the problem proposed by the bureau of public health, he said they had better solve the problem first even if they were in some difficulties.
Thus, under the close concern of the great leader, anti-epidemic facilities were fully provided and preventive medicine production was conducted in earnest. This enabled the country to prevent infectious diseases, including cholera that swept the world at that time, in the summer of the following year.
