A few days ago, American newspaper Wall Street Journal conveyed the news that the FBI, under the pretext of preventing the “cyber-attack” in advance, conducted a full-scale investigation of private data of more than 3,400,000 Americans last year, i.e. names, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, passwords.
This reportedly has stirred up considerable controversy among Americans over how such an illegal investigation of private data belonging to so many American citizens could have been conducted, without any warrant.
The thing is that FBI went scot-free under the active patronage and connivance of the government even though it has a precedent of more than once where it was blamed for its illegal collection of private information like this time.
This has revealed in all nakedness hypocrisy and absurdity of the “U.S. Freedom Act” which stipulates that collection of telephone communication record of an individual requires permission from the relevant agency.
With regard to the FBI’s illegal investigation, the high-ranking officials from U.S. administration are coming out with lame excuses saying that the actual figure may be smaller than the announced and the figure also includes data of foreigners. But this only serves to highlight the foul and hypocritical face of the U.S. posing as a “human rights defender”.
In fact, numerous is the instances where all kinds of human rights violation and abuse of power were committed beyond human imagination at the public organs under the tacit approval of U.S. administration.
According to an exposé by one media, the number of people killed by police’s abuse of power reportedly amounts up to 249 in the U.S. in the first quarter of this year, and its annual figure reaches up to more than 1,100 on average. The U.S. police authorities, however, are evading responsibility on one plea or another.
The CIA is also gaining its notoriety by mediaeval violation of human rights of detainees, along with the Guantanamo Bay detention facility stigmatized as a “living hell of the century”.
Society where people eke out existence in the inferno of human rights violation under the active patronage and fostering of the reactionary and anti-popular state ruling system – this is the U.S. which professes itself as “beacon of human rights” and “exemplary state of human rights.”
