Recently, there held an election to elect the 6 th Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

The Chinese media said with one voice that Hong Kong, with this this as momentum, showed a superiority and an advanced character of new election system, and made a new stride in moving along the road of democratic development suited to its actual circumstances.

But some politicians from the U.S. and the West openly interfered into the internal affairs of China while saying that the election goes against the “democratic principle” and expressing a “grave concern” about it.

The spokesperson for Hong Kong-Macao Office under the State Council of China said this election is a successful translation by Hong Kong which has developed democratic system suited to its actual circumstances. He then revealed that the criticism about democracy, freedom and human rights issue of Hong Kong by a handful of politicians in the U.S. and the West is aimed at containing China by plunging Hong Kong into confusion.

The spokesperson for the Chinese foreign ministry also said that, whatever election system Hong Kong may choose or whichever democratic development it may explore, it all belongs to internal affairs of China, to which any other outside forces have no right to meddle with. The spokesperson then stressed that the Chinese government stands firm in its determination to carry out the policy of “one country, two systems” comprehensively without any deviation and to develop superior democracy which agrees with the actual conditions of Hong Kong.

The politicians from the U.S. and the West have picked on and spoken ill of each and every policy and measures of the Chinese Party and government for a long-term stability and development of Hong Kong. It is absolutely impossible that they would speak reasonably about the election of the Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region this time.

When we look at the politicians from the U.S. and the West who are viciously slinging mud at the election again even though it was held in a legal, fair and transparent way, it seems that they are probably feeling so impatient at not being able to replay the illegal situation of violence in 2019 which was rampant with violence, incendiary fire, destruction and other criminal acts, regarding them as the manifestation of “freedom”, “democracy” and “championing of human rights”.

As had been exposed by the “Global Times” and other Chinese media, there had always been shadows of anti-Chinese forces of the U.S. and the West behind the circumstances leading to several issues cropped up recently in Hong Kong. They still do not give up their dark designs to hamper development and stability of China, together with their deep-rooted prejudices towards the Hong Kong issue.

It has become an inveterate evil-practice of the U.S. and the West to indulge in infringing on sovereignty of other country and interfering in its internal affairs, behind the showy signboard of “safeguarding of freedom and democracy” and “ensuring of human rights”.

We flatly oppose and reject the U.S. and the West in their mean tricks to hold in check genuine democratic development of Hong Kong, and fully support the Chinese Party, government and people in their efforts to achieve a long-term stability and development of Hong Kong by adhering to and carrying out the policy of “one country, two systems”.
