The practical guidance teams dispatched to each province in accordance with the decisions of the consultative meeting of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea held on May 21 are accurately surveying the operation of the top emergency anti-epidemic system to take timely measures while conducting a survey of the execution of the Party and state policies for the first half of the year 2022.

Members of the practical guidance teams that consist mainly of members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee and secretaries of the Party Central Committee learn in detail about the problems arising in treating persons with fever, producing and supplying efficacious medicines and ensuring locals’ living and discuss and decide relevant necessary measures by looking round hospitals, medicine production and supply units and pharmacies in relevant localities and asking locals’ opinions, and actively lead and help local Party and government organs and working people’s organizations to enhance their functions and role so as to ensure victory in the anti-epidemic campaign in a scientific way.

Efforts are also made to consolidate the foundation for the anti-epidemic campaign and make sure that optimized treatment tactics and methods are rapidly introduced on a nationwide scale.

Relevant information activities are further intensified with emphasis put on educating people in knowledge of omicron mutated virus infection and broadening their understanding of the scientific treatment methods and anti-epidemic regulations for the characteristics of persons at different ages and for different physical conditions, for example, children and pregnant women and nursing mothers.

Rapid diagnosis teams formed at central hospitals maintain the 24-hour operation of telemedicine service systems, giving timely technical assistance and taking scientific measures for the treatment of occasional patients with abnormal signs at local hospitals.

A medical science research team formed with relevant officials, including those of the State Commission of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Public Health, the Academy of Medical Science, the Central Hygienic and Anti-epidemic Centre, the Bioengineering Branch of the State Academy of Sciences, Pyongyang University of Medical Sciences and the Korea General Red Cross Hospital, has conducted a strict analysis of the experience gained in the previous epidemic prevention work and relevant lessons and the experience in the current treatment of the epidemic and is pushing ahead with research for raising the state’s capacity for coping with the relevant crisis.

Resolute efforts are being made to check the spread of the malignant epidemic and terminate the source of the disease, and preparations are under way to cope with possible threat and challenge promptly.

A nationwide epidemiological survey has been reorganized and practical measures are taken on the basis of the result of the comprehensive analysis of the epidemiological features of those with fever and the treatment of them and the detailed assessment of the control of the epidemic in relevant localities and units such as cities and counties. And the work is being pushed to steadily raise the level of scientification of antibody test.

Meanwhile, efforts are put in to share the military medics’ experience in medicine supply and diagnosis and their efficient methods invented during the treatment and prevention of the epidemic and generalize rational plans.

The commanding group of the Ministry of National Defence has rapidly distributed to all pharmacies in the capital city thousands of copies of a detailed explanation about the use of relevant medicines, folk remedies and Koryo therapies and over 32 500 copies of data on varieties of hygienic information, making a contribution to enhancing the working people’s understanding of scientific anti-epidemic work.

Every province, city and county are strictly abiding by hygienic regulations in keeping and dealing with the medicines supplied in advance and using medicinal herbs and other useful plants in local areas to produce medicines after analyzing their ingredients.
