Chinese Media Express Concerns Over Perilous U.S. Pressure on DPRK and Its Open “Nuclear Double Standards”

Recently, “China Youth Daily” carried an article criticizing the U.S. for taking double standards  openly in the“prohibition of nuclear forces” with its expressed concern that the United States is aggravating tensions to the extreme on the Korean peninsula by staging reckless military drills and holding high-level talks with its allies over an alleged “threat” from somebody.

It pointed out as follows:

The U.S. and south Korea make much noise about the “possible nuclear test by the DPRK”.  With this as an excuse, they continued to “flex their muscles” in the sea and the sky near the Korean peninsula.

On June 7, the U.S. and south Korea dispatched 20 fighters to the sky over the west sea of the Korean peninsula for an intensive offensive and defensive mission. Before this, they mobilized carrier flotilla and staged a drill in the open sea southeast of Okinawa, Japan, and launched 8 ballistic missiles on the east coast of south Korea.

Besides these military moves, the U.S., Japan and south Korea frequently hold high-level talks to confront the DPRK with the so-called “political power for political power”. Through this, they are trying to create an “East Asian version of Ukrainian Crisis”.

The U.S. and the West are applying double standards in the “prohibition of the nuclear forces”.

The U.S., UK and other Western countries are defiantly going ahead with their moves to transfer nuclear technology to non-nuclear states such as Australia, in disregard of security concerns of the neighboring countries. This has been giving a heavy blow to the international nuclear non-proliferation regime, provoking arms race and disturbing peace and stability in the region.

As was revealed by the Chinese newspaper, the U.S. attempt at isolating and stifling the DPRK has now reached its dangerous limit.

In the years following the DPRK-U.S. summit, the U.S. conducted joint military drills hundreds of times. It conducted the tests of all kinds of strategic weapons and deployed nuclear strategic weapons in the regions near the Korean peninsula to deliberately aggravate the situation. It is also hell bent on depriving our Republic of the right to self-defense by enforcing dozens of unilateral sanctions against the DPRK.

Despite this reality, the U.S. is misleading the public opinion. It finds fault with DPRK’s just measures to bolster self-defense capabilities, branding them as a “threat” and “provocation”.

The above facts clearly prove once again that the U.S. is indeed the most serious threat to global peace and stability.
